Early 50's Seiko Super 1721
Early 50's Seiko Super 1721
Serviced, extremely rare, early 50's Seiko Super, 15 jewels antimagnetic, manual winding watch.
Super was released in 1950. It was the first Seiko watch with center second.
Judging from the the case and dial design and the build quality, this was a high end model. Most likely produced in very small quantities, hence no serial number.
Stainless steel case, with exceptional design and screw down caseback that provided water protection at the time. There are age related scuffs and scratches, but the condition is very good for being over 70 years old.
Dial has applied numerals, hour markers and S. Original lume is still on, but dead. It has obvious signs of its age and tone of character.
15 jewels, manual winding movement was adjusted in 3 positions, also indicating that this was a high end model.
New plastic crystal.
New rubber gasket on the back.
On a new old stock, genuine crocodile leather strap by Smart (Tokyo strap company that is no longer around)
As is the case with most of very old watches, it is small.
