Serviced 1972 Citizen Cosmotron "Special" Electronic watch in good condition.
In 1966 Citizen released first electronic watch in Japan. Electronic watches existed before, but Cosmotron was on a whole new level. It was the world’s first genuine electronic wristwatch that has adopted a moving-magnet type balance motor, driven by transistor on the regulating device. Production lasted for about 10 years as quartz watches took over completely by mid 70's.
This model is powered by the finest of all electronic movements and one of the most advanced iterations of hybrid watchmaking before quartz took over, caliber 7803A.
It's a high beat, 36000 BPH movement. What truly distinguishes this caliber is a Flyback corrector button at 8 o'clock. Pushing it zeros the seconds hand instantly to 12 o'clock.
It also has unique calendar quick set function.
Holding the watch with 12 o'clock facing up and pushing the crown, advances date.
Holding it with 6 o’clock up and pressing crown, advances day.
Watch is in very good condition in and out.
Flawless, mat, with subtle sunburst effect, dark grey dial is bold and beautiful and difficult. Pictures don't do it justice.
Monocoque, multi faceted stainless steel case has some minor scratches, but over it's in pretty good condition.
Original, quality, solid link stainless steel bracelet is in great condition. It fits up to 18cm wrist.
NOS Citizen mineral crystal.
