Serviced, 1971 Citizen Leopard high beat 28800 automatic watch in good condition.
Leopard brand with high quality, high beat automatic movements represented the peak of Citizen mechanical watchmaking, before they went all in on quartz and downgraded their mechanicals to a lone caliber 8200.
These watches were direct competition to King Seiko and were in every way just as good as Seiko.
This example features a bold yet elegant, navy blue dial with a subtle sunburst effect that looks much better in person than under the camera lens.
Stainless steel case is sharp and unpolished. There are some nicks and scratches normal for the watch its age.
Original mineral crystal had some noticeable scratches. Unfortunately, finding a replacement is absolutely imposible, so I have replaced with domed acrylic.
Caliber 7710 ticks at 8 beats per second. It has manual winding, hacking and unusual day/date quick set. To change date, hold the watch with 12 o'clock pointing up and push the crown. No quick set for weekdays.
