Serviced, very rare 1968 Seiko 5 DX (Deluxe) 25 jewels automatic watch in good condition.
There were a number 5 DX models with bold design, but visually this one is a particularly striking variant.
The watch has a silver sunburst dial surrounded by an unusual blue-and-black segmented minute/seconds track. That outer track is the defining visual feature: alternating rectangular blocks give the dial a distinctly late-1960s, almost graphic or “racing-dial” appearance. Large black rectangular markers at 12, 6 and 9 balance the design, while the 3 o’clock position is occupied by the framed, faceted day-date window.
Substantial stainless-steel cushion/tonneau-shaped case, with broad vertically brushed upper surfaces and polished facets around the sides is in good condition with some minor nicks and scratches.
NOS Genuine Seiko acrylic crystal. .
New Seiko cowhide leather strap.
Caliber 6106B is the same base caliber found in 61GS. It's fully automatic, no hand winding, with hacking and push of the crown date quick set.
Movement is in great condition and runs accurately.
