1940 Rare Seikosha "Nardin" gift from the Emperor pocket watch

 Serviced, rare and very valuable 1940 (Showa 15) Seikosha 16 jewels manual winding pocket watch in excellent condition. 

This is the watch that was given by the Emperor or the imperial family and only honor graduates from schools of the Imperial Army and Navy or Imperial Universities were able to receive it. 

It was a great honor, as top graduates were selected based on not only their grades but also their personality and physical strength.

Seikosha's ``Excellent'' had been used as a gift since 1907, but later Seikosha's best model, "Type 17 SEIKOSHA,'' developed in 1930 has been officially adopted.

This pocket watch was commonly known as the Seikosha Nardin, because it was produced by incorporating designs from the prestigious Swiss brand Ulysse Nardin with some elements from Longines.

At the time, it boasted an accuracy of within 15 seconds per day, which was superior to Swiss luxury watches.

This dial is in very good condition with no noticeable flaws. 

Bronze hands are stylish and accent the dial. 

Case is made of 90% silver and it's in excellent condition with very deep Kanji engraving (Gift) on its back. 

When you open the snapback caseback, you can see the stamp "0.900", which indicates 90% pure silver.

It is not only a rare item, but also a very prestigious historical watch. This watch usually stays in the family for generations. 

Unfortunately, the watch doesn't come with original box. 

Movement has been serviced and it runs extremely well for 83 year old watch. After two days I haven't notice much varience at all. 

Movement itself is a thing of beauty. Probably, the nicest movement I had a pleasure to work on.
